Nanda Sunanda Yojana

In a groundbreaking initiative, the Dehradun district administration has introduced the ‘Nanda Sunanda Yojana’, a scheme aimed at providing free education to orphan and underprivileged girls who have completed their 12th standard. The program, launched by District Magistrate Savin Bansal, seeks to bridge the educational gap and offer opportunities for higher studies, including graduation and skill education, to those in need.

According to sources, the scheme will directly transfer funds to the educational institutions where the selected students enroll. A multidisciplinary committee has been established to oversee the selection process, ensuring that the most deserving candidates benefit from the program. The committee will engage with the community through Janta Darbar and multipurpose camps to identify eligible beneficiaries.

At the launch event held at the Rishiparna Auditorium, a total of Rs 2,44,731 was distributed among eight deserving candidates. The beneficiaries included orphan Roshni, who received Rs 28,975 for her B.Sc. in Yoga Science at Shri Guru Ram Rai University, and Ronak, who received Rs 25,000 for his graduation studies at the National Institute of Open Schooling.

The ‘Nanda Sunanda Yojana’ is an extension of District Magistrate Savin Bansal’s previous efforts in Nainital, where he successfully supported the education of 60 girls. This initiative has sparked hope among the underprivileged community in Dehradun, offering them a chance to break the cycle of poverty and secure a brighter future.

The launch of the ‘Nanda Sunanda Yojana’ highlights the importance of education in empowering marginalized communities, particularly girls. As India strives to achieve its development goals, initiatives like these can play a crucial role in bridging the educational gap and fostering social mobility. With its focus on inclusivity and accessibility, the ‘Nanda Sunanda Yojana’ sets a positive precedent for other districts to follow.
