NBEMS Verification Fee: Medical practitioners seeking Additional Qualification (AQ) certificates from the National Medical Commission (NMC) must now complete a crucial prerequisite: paying the NBEMS credential verification fee. This new requirement affects doctors who have completed DNB, DrNB, FNB, and FMGE qualifications under the National Board of Education in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).
NMC Additional Qualification Key Highlights
- Mandatory fee payment through NBEMS Miscellaneous Fee Payment Portal
- Applicable to all NBEMS-qualified medical practitioners
- Digital verification process implemented via Credential Verification Online Portal (CVOP)
- Expected verification timeline: 4 weeks
The process stems from Section 26 of the IMC Act, 1956, read with Section 61(2) of the NMC Act, 2019, which mandates verification of higher qualifications before issuing AQ certificates. Following NBEMS’s public notice dated April 24, 2024, all credential verifications will be processed exclusively through the CVOP system.

“This digital transformation streamlines the verification process while maintaining rigorous authentication standards,” said an NMC spokesperson. The initiative aligns with the government’s push toward digital verification of educational credentials.
For medical practitioners applying for AQ certificates, the NMC emphasizes that applications will only be processed after successful fee payment and verification through the NBEMS portal. The commission advises applicants to maintain copies of all payment receipts and relevant documentation throughout the process.
The new system represents a significant shift toward digital credential verification in medical education, ensuring faster processing while maintaining the integrity of professional qualifications in the healthcare sector.
