The former finance minister and son-in-law to Indian billionaire Narayana Murthy, Rishi Sunak is well qualified for a ministerial call.
Rishi has attended Winchester College and Oxford University and Stanford University. In addition to being an accomplished academic, he has had great success in the business world.
His father practiced medicine for the National Health Service while his mom ran a nearby pharmacy. His grandparents were born in India and moved first to East Africa before migrating to the UK in the 1960s.
The frontrunner for the UK PM position, Rishi Sunak, was born to an Indian family in 1980. He was born in one of the UK's most historic ports and has been praised for providing a workable economic plan.
After living for several years in California where he met his wife Akshata Murthy who is originally from India. Together they have two daughters, Krishna and Anoushka.
In July 2019, he was appointed Chief Secretary to the Treasury and entered Government service as Minister for Local Government in January 2018.
Rishi Sunak suffered personal scandals over his wife's finances. it was revealed that she had non-domicile status in Britain and so didn't pay tax on her overseas earnings.
Rishi and his wife Akshata entered the Sunday Times UK Rich List at number 222 with a reported net worth of 730 million pounds.
