Uttarakhand Chief Minister initiates ambitious 26-kilometer elevated corridor project along Rispana and Bindal rivers to address Dehradun's growing traffic concerns and infrastructure needs.
Dehradun’s urban landscape is set for a major transformation as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to commence work on the ambitious Rispana and Bindal Corridor project, addressing the city’s escalating transportation challenges.
During a key meeting at the Secretariat focusing on the Dehradun Elevated Corridor, CM Dhami emphasized the urgent need to initiate construction, citing the city’s growing population, increasing vehicle density, and anticipated surge in tourist traffic following the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway completion.
The comprehensive infrastructure project encompasses:
- An 11-kilometer four-lane elevated corridor along the Rispana river bed
- A 15-kilometer stretch along the Bindal river bed
- Relocation of existing public utilities, including power and sewer lines
- Construction of retaining walls and flood protection measures
“The output of all development works being done in the state should be visible on the ground,” stated CM Dhami, stressing the importance of quality and timely execution of the project.
The initiative comes as part of a larger development strategy, with the Chief Minister instructing officials to:
- Seek central government cooperation for connecting the elevated corridor to the Expressway
- Implement coordinated efforts among various line departments
- Develop well-planned infrastructure solutions for other state cities
The project’s scope extends beyond road construction, incorporating crucial urban infrastructure elements while ensuring environmental protection through flood control measures along both river corridors.
CM Dhami has tasked the Chief Secretary with regular monitoring of various development initiatives, including the UIDB works, regional connectivity between Garhwal and Kumaon, and the Mansakhkhand Mandir Mala Mission.
